As Week 2 of the 2015 NFL season is about to start, many football fans look forward to seeing which teams have improved, as well as which have gotten worse. There is nothing better than watching the underdog move up spots, while the overrated try to play their way back up. There has only been one week of games in the regular season, so these rankings can change, drastically, over the next 16 weeks.

The Week 2 NFL Power Rankings are:

NFL Power Rankings Week 2

It is remarkable that, previously ranked #1, the Seattle Seahawks would lose in overtime against the St. Louis Rams, 34-31 in overtime, but what else is amazing is that despite losing against a team ranked 19, they would only drop three spots. This must mean that the analysts at NFL.com really have a lot of faith in the Seahawks, and it is possible that they stay ranked high.

There were many other surprises during the Week 1 games, including the victory of the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, and the San Francisco 49ers. The fans were not the only ones surprised by the games and performances by the favored teams, as sportsbooks also suffered from the close games that were played. It was no surprise that the Patriots would beat the Steelers, as they were missing key players on the offense and defense, and on top of that, Brady returned to the lineup after winning his battle against Commissioner Roger Goodell and the Deflategate scandal.

The Green Bay Packers are once again looking strong, like they have at the beginning of several seasons in the past. Let’s hope they are able to keep the performance at a high level, or they won’t get to the Super Bowl, again. The football regular season is looking to be full of great competition.

Predicting The Football Underdogs 2015 Records https://football.us/football/predicting-the-football-underdogs-2015-records/ https://football.us/football/predicting-the-football-underdogs-2015-records/#respond Mon, 27 Jul 2015 20:38:08 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=495 Football underdog teams

Just a few more weeks until football season starts up again and the NFL team’s are hard at work with their training camps. Some team’s are trying to forget their past seasons record, as it may be embarrassing to know that they had a losing streak. However, the good thing about a new season is that records start at 0-0, no matter their past performance.

Of course, teams will always remember and want to do better, especially if they have less than desirable winning records. This is why were looking at three teams, who did extremely bad in 2014, and will start out the 2015 season as underdogs. Taking into account coaching, rookies and free agents, and quarterback play, the predicted records for the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are:

Team 2014 Record Predicted 2015 Record
Raiders 3-13 8-8
Titans 2-14 7-9
Buccaneers 2-14 7-9

It doesn’t look like the predictions give them good chances of getting a winning record, but they should be able to improve from last season. Any rookies or free agents that they receive may give them a boost, but the change in coaching, as well as lack of experience could prove to have a hard season. Once the players get seasoned, they could be a lot better.

These football predictions are on the safe side, although it could go either way, as you should all know how unpredictable any NFL game can be. It would be a good idea to start looking at the underdogs, as there is a lot of money to be made off of them. For expanded explanations of each of these predictions, you can check them out courtesy of Bleacher Report.

NFL.com Ranks The 15 Best College Football Teams https://football.us/college/nfl-com-ranks-the-15-best-college-football-teams/ https://football.us/college/nfl-com-ranks-the-15-best-college-football-teams/#respond Wed, 08 Jul 2015 22:26:02 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=411 College Football rankings

Each year, right before the NCAA College football season starts, the professional side of the sport likes to rank the teams based on their own criteria, which is why NFL.com has released the Top 15 College teams, which don’t really come as much of a surprise based on their performances last year.

The Top 15 ranked college teams are:

RANK TEAM OUTSTANDING REASON
1 Ohio State Tons of highly talented players
2 TCU Dynamic QB and talented offense
3 Michigan State Tough defense and Star QB
4 Alabama Deep and talented defense
5 Baylor Highly athletic team
6 Oregon Great RB and coach
7 Florida State Outstanding recruiting
8 USC Excellent offensive line
9 Auburn Great QB and RB combo
10 Ole Miss Excellent defense
11 Clemson Excellent QB and Dynamic WR’s
12 Notre Dame Good QB and offensive line
13 Georgia Amazing Linebackers and RB
14 Arizona Good sync with no-huddle offense
15 UCLA Veteran offensive line and RB

There are many other great teams that would have fit the criteria to be on this list, but these 15 teams simply outmatched them in their own respective areas, whether their strong offense is predicted to crush the opposition, or have their outstanding defense stop enough plays to carry the team.

Either way, look forward to seeing these teams live up to the hype on this list or see which teams will get beat out by those that just barely didn’t make it on. For more details on why NFL.com ranked these teams this way, read about it here.

Evan Mathis Has Four Possible Football Teams To Sign With https://football.us/nfl/evan-mathis-has-four-possible-football-teams-to-sign-with/ https://football.us/nfl/evan-mathis-has-four-possible-football-teams-to-sign-with/#respond Thu, 11 Jun 2015 16:07:33 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=399 Evan Mathis

Evan Mathis, the 33-year-old Guard, was recently let go by the Philadelphia Eagles, although with his football experience and Pro Bowler status it won’t take a long time for other NFL teams to pick him up. Mathis has the advantage of having an excellent interior offensive line performance, which will be a great asset to any of the many teams with a weak line.

There are already four NFL teams that have taken a very specific interest in Mathis, and each team could use his talents to the fullest and build a much stronger offense around him. The teams are:

  • New York Giants: they lost left tackle Will Beaty, and Mathis would support Flowers.
  • Seattle Seahawks: have a zone attack, and Mathis is a great zone-blocker.
  • Denver Broncos: Peyton Manning needs better blockers, and Mathis would fit perfectly.
  • Oakland Raiders: the Raiders have enough money to grab him and use him.

This is a Free Agent’s dream, having the talent that a lot of teams need and want, and being able to join their team before the season starts. There are other teams that MAthis could be an essential part of their offensive line, but we will have to wait and see who ends up picking him up. Can’t wait to see how much better any football team will get after he joins.
