With the last football games of the season being played this week, it is important for fans to know where their favorite teams stand, and thanks to all of the experts, we have the power rankings ready to give insight into which teams could walk away with another win or loss. It is crucial for some teams to win this week if they want to try and make it into the Playoffs.

Rank Team Record Previous Rank
1 Cardinals 13-2 2
2 Panthers 14-1 1
3 Patriots 12-3 3
4 Broncos 11-4 8
5 Jets 10-5 10
6 Bengals 11-4 5
7 Chiefs 10-5 9
8 Packers 10-5 6
9 Steelers 9-6 4
10 Seahawks 9-6 7
11 Vikings 10-5 11
12 Redskins 8-7 12
13 Raiders 7-8 14
14 Texans 8-7 13
15 Falcons 8-7 16
16 Bills 7-8 18
17 Rams 7-8 22
18 Colts 7-8 21
19 Eagles 6-9 19
20 Saints 6-9 23
21 Giants 6-9 15
22 Buccaneers 6-9 17
23 Lions 6-9 26
24 Ravens 5-10 28
25 Bears 6-9 24
26 Jaguars 5-10 20
27 Dolphins 5-10 25
28 Chargers 4-11 27
29 Cowboys 4-11 29
30 Browns 3-12 32
31 49ers 4-11 30
32 Titans 3-12 31

We can see that the Carolina Panthers have relinquished their number one spot on the rankings after four weeks, and if they continue with the trend where the other five teams that started 6-0 or better this season have followed up their winning streak with two consecutive losses. We may see them end the season with 14-2 as they go up against the Buccaneers, but it doesn’t seem probable.

The Broncos and Jets seem to be moving up the rankings, as they have been down further after they got their losses. The opposite is also true, as the Packers and Steelers have had a up-and-down season, going on losing and winning streaks, and may end the season right on the line into getting into the playoffs. There are a few teams that could use this extra victory as they go into the Wild Card games, which include (as of Week 16):

New York Jets

Cincinnati Bengals

Kansas City Chiefs

Houston Texans

Seattle Seahawks

Green Bay Packers

Minnesota Vikings

Washington Redskins

So, choose carefully which football teams you think will make it passed the Wild card stage and into the Playoffs, as the power ranking prove that no team is safe.

Fans Rank Their Favorite Football Teams https://football.us/football/fans-rank-their-favorite-football-teams/ https://football.us/football/fans-rank-their-favorite-football-teams/#respond Tue, 13 Oct 2015 19:25:01 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=778 NFL Football fan votes

Despite how well a NFL franchise is doing in the current football season, or how well they are ranking coming into Week 6, fans will always see the teams a certain way. This is why ESPN.com had fans vote to see which was their favorite team and compare them against each other, as well as other sports franchises from around the nation; including MLB, NBA, and NHL. There were a total of 122 franchises that were voted on, so compare how each team did against each other, as well against the other sports.

Rank Franchise Overall Position (out of 122)
1 Seattle Seahawks 5
2 Green Bay Packers 6
3 Indianapolis Colts 11
4 Baltimore Ravens 18
5 Denver Broncos 20
6 Carolina Panthers 24
7 New England Patriots 25
8 Pittsburgh Steelers 30
9 Arizona Cardinals 32
10 New Orleans Saints 33
11 Kansas City Chiefs 38
12 Buffalo Bills 49
13 Houston Texans 50
14 Atlanta Falcons 60
15 Jacksonville Jaguars 64
16 Dallas Cowboys 67
17 New York Giants 76
18 Philadelphia Eagles 79
19 Minnesota Vikings 86
20 Cincinnati Bengals 87
21 Detroit Lions 89
22 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 91
23 Miami Dolphins 92
24 San Francisco 49ers 104
25 Oakland Raiders 105
26 St. Louis Rams 108
27 Cleveland Browns 109
28 Chicago Bears 114
29 San Diego Chargers 115
30 New York Jets 116
31 Tennessee Titans 117
32 Washington Redskins 120

With the top ranked NFL teams currently, some of them not even reaching positions under 50, there is certainly a large skew as to how fans view those teams. There could simply be more fans that voted than others, but all-in-all we see that the Washington Redskins are still universally voted as the worst franchise in the League. The only two other franchises that beat the Redskins as the worst are, New York Knicks (NBA), and Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL).

There are 12 NFL teams that ranked below 80 overall, so that is a good sign. The top voted teams are in that spot due to their appeal. For instance, the Seattle Seahawks were voted number 1 (5 overall) due to their repeated appearances in the Super Bowl, as well as winning it once. The coaches, as well as how much the overall team is worth also plays a big part. If the Seahawks don’t start to perform up to the football hype, they may get knocked down in next year’s votes.

NFL Football Week 5 Power Rankings https://football.us/football/nfl-football-week-5-power-rankings/ https://football.us/football/nfl-football-week-5-power-rankings/#respond Tue, 06 Oct 2015 20:30:55 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=760 NFL Football power rankings

With the first quarter of football games over with, we now move onto NFL Week 5 games and have seen a lot of teams shift up and down in the Power Rankings. With a lot of debate over the final game of the week between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions, we will see that other teams turned their losing streak upside down and were able to make some great upsets this week, which will probably help them climb up a few spots. The 2015 NFL Week 5 Power Rankings are:

Rank Team Record
1 Green Bay Packers 4-0
2 New England Patriots 3-0
3 Cincinnati Bengals 4-0
4 Denver Broncos 4-0
5 Atlanta Falcons 4-0
6 Arizona Cardinals 3-1
7 Carolina Panthers 4-0
8 Seattle Seahawks 2-2
9 New York Jets 3-1
10 Buffalo Bills 2-2
11 Minnesota Vikings 2-2
12 St. Louis Rams 2-2
13 Pittsburgh Steelers 2-2
14 Indianapolis Colts 2-2
15 New York Giants 2-2
16 San Diego Chargers 2-2
17 Kansas City Chiefs 1-3
18 Dallas Cowboys 2-2
19 Oakland Raiders 2-2
20 Washington Redskins 2-2
21 Baltimore Ravens 1-3
22 Philadelphia Eagles 1-3
23 Tennessee Titans 1-2
24 Detroit Lions 0-4
25 Jacksonville Jaguars 1-3
26 Cleveland Browns 1-3
27 Miami Dolphins 1-3
28 New Orleans Saints 1-3
29 San Francisco 49ers 1-3
30 Houston Texans 1-3
31 Chicago Bears 1-3
32 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-3

There were quite a few upsets this past week, with a lot of underdog teams making it through and finally getting their first or second victory of the season, giving their fans a little bit of hope. Some of the upsets include:

  • Ravens beating Steelers (23-20)
  • Redskins beating Eagles (23-20)
  • Bears beating Raiders (22-20)
  • Rams beating Cardinals (24-22)

The most impressive victory would have to be on behalf of the St. Louis Rams, as they were up against the Arizona Cardinals who were 3-0, as well as playing at Home; which gave them huge advantage at any sportsbook. The Bears were finally able to get their first victory of the season, as they look more like an NFL team than they did at the beginning.

A big shout-out to all the Detroit Lions fans, as we hope that the terrible call, or rather non-call, on behalf of the back judge Greg Wilson, which ultimately gave the Seahawks the ball and the close victory, won’t haunt them forever; as they are the only NFL team without a win. We will probably see a lot more upsets this week, but as the Patriots come off of their bye-week, let’s hope to see a big football splash as they face the Dallas Cowboys.

NFL Football Week 2 Power Rankings https://football.us/nfl/nfl-football-week-2-power-rankings/ https://football.us/nfl/nfl-football-week-2-power-rankings/#respond Tue, 15 Sep 2015 20:20:30 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=686 Football team power rankings Week 2

As Week 2 of the 2015 NFL season is about to start, many football fans look forward to seeing which teams have improved, as well as which have gotten worse. There is nothing better than watching the underdog move up spots, while the overrated try to play their way back up. There has only been one week of games in the regular season, so these rankings can change, drastically, over the next 16 weeks.

The Week 2 NFL Power Rankings are:

NFL Power Rankings Week 2

It is remarkable that, previously ranked #1, the Seattle Seahawks would lose in overtime against the St. Louis Rams, 34-31 in overtime, but what else is amazing is that despite losing against a team ranked 19, they would only drop three spots. This must mean that the analysts at NFL.com really have a lot of faith in the Seahawks, and it is possible that they stay ranked high.

There were many other surprises during the Week 1 games, including the victory of the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, and the San Francisco 49ers. The fans were not the only ones surprised by the games and performances by the favored teams, as sportsbooks also suffered from the close games that were played. It was no surprise that the Patriots would beat the Steelers, as they were missing key players on the offense and defense, and on top of that, Brady returned to the lineup after winning his battle against Commissioner Roger Goodell and the Deflategate scandal.

The Green Bay Packers are once again looking strong, like they have at the beginning of several seasons in the past. Let’s hope they are able to keep the performance at a high level, or they won’t get to the Super Bowl, again. The football regular season is looking to be full of great competition.

NFL.com Ranks The 15 Best College Football Teams https://football.us/college/nfl-com-ranks-the-15-best-college-football-teams/ https://football.us/college/nfl-com-ranks-the-15-best-college-football-teams/#respond Wed, 08 Jul 2015 22:26:02 +0000 http://www.football.us/?p=411 College Football rankings

Each year, right before the NCAA College football season starts, the professional side of the sport likes to rank the teams based on their own criteria, which is why NFL.com has released the Top 15 College teams, which don’t really come as much of a surprise based on their performances last year.

The Top 15 ranked college teams are:

RANK TEAM OUTSTANDING REASON
1 Ohio State Tons of highly talented players
2 TCU Dynamic QB and talented offense
3 Michigan State Tough defense and Star QB
4 Alabama Deep and talented defense
5 Baylor Highly athletic team
6 Oregon Great RB and coach
7 Florida State Outstanding recruiting
8 USC Excellent offensive line
9 Auburn Great QB and RB combo
10 Ole Miss Excellent defense
11 Clemson Excellent QB and Dynamic WR’s
12 Notre Dame Good QB and offensive line
13 Georgia Amazing Linebackers and RB
14 Arizona Good sync with no-huddle offense
15 UCLA Veteran offensive line and RB

There are many other great teams that would have fit the criteria to be on this list, but these 15 teams simply outmatched them in their own respective areas, whether their strong offense is predicted to crush the opposition, or have their outstanding defense stop enough plays to carry the team.

Either way, look forward to seeing these teams live up to the hype on this list or see which teams will get beat out by those that just barely didn’t make it on. For more details on why NFL.com ranked these teams this way, read about it here.
